This Studio III project involved designing a headquarters for Maggie's Centres, a nonprofit organization that provides free emotional and practical support for people affected by cancer and their families.
The design explored how workplace environments can reflect an organization’s mission through thoughtful spatial planning and material selection. The headquarters includes collaborative workspaces, private offices, meeting rooms, and communal areas that encourage connection, productivity, and well-being.
Natural light, warm materials, and a calming color palette were used to create a welcoming and restorative atmosphere. The final design balances functionality with comfort, resulting in a workplace that supports both the staff and the meaningful work of the organization.
CANOPY SOLANCE
“Rooted in the quiet intelligence of a mushroom, the design creates biophilic refuge that feels open rather than enclosed through natural materials, warm wood tones, and softened textures. Interconnected spaces unfold in a gentle rhythm, mirroring mycelial networks through permeability and gradients of privacy that support diverse users at work and in care. Rising from adversity, the headquarters embodies renewal, adaptability, and collective support.”
