Interior Design Studio II Project Specialised Interior Environments (INDS 210)
Instructor : Prof. Susanne Napper
This Studio II project involved designing a fictional flagship location in Florida for Sazenka, a Michelin-starred restaurant in Tokyo known for its sophisticated blend of Chinese and Japanese cuisine.
The project focused on translating Sazenka’s refined identity into a new geographic and cultural context while preserving the essence of the brand. The design explored how climate, natural light, and local influences could shape the interior environment, creating a space that feels both authentic to Sazenka and responsive to its Florida setting.
The final design combined elegant materials, carefully planned lighting, and a sequence of immersive dining spaces to deliver a hospitality experience that reflects the restaurant’s philosophy of precision, craftsmanship, and understated luxury.

“A story of fusion, where cultural warmth intertwines with precision to form a balanced whole. It is guided by harmony, expressed through the rhythm of contrasts, strength and softness, shadow and light, tradition and awakening. Subtle details flow like ritual, guided by the soft glow of light that reveals textures with grace and restraint. What remains is resonance: an atmosphere of intimacy and timeless refinement, leaving an impression that endures beyond the moment.”
